There were a lot of parts that got me too. It's the kind of article that makes you feel guilty that you haven't already done something major.

This article makes it seem like the people are lost and will live in this terror forever. It's all a cycle, there will be a revolution, a new government will be established, slowly become more and more tyrannical and another revolution will ensue.

This is not to say I'm not disgusted at the current state of the US and want to do something about it.
